Read PDF Files on Your Windows Mobile PDA or Pocket PC

By

Many documents are stored in PDF (Portable Document Files) format. This format makes it easy to carry a document from one computer to the next while maintaining formatting and the overall look of a document. PDF files are popular for personal and business use as well as for storing eBooks.

Even though PDF files are typically viewed on a computer monitor, you can view them on your PDA as well. There are a number of software programs that will enable your Windows Mobile or Pocket PC PDA to view PDF files. Here’s a look at some popular options:

Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0

Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0 adapts PDF files for viewing on smaller screens. This program works with ActiveSync. Features include the ability to submit form data over a wireless connection, wireless printing with compatible Bluetooth or 802.11 enabled printers and Pocket PC handhelds, and the ability to view Adobe PDF slide shows generated by Adobe Photoshop Album.

Foxit Reader for Windows Mobile

Foxit Reader for Windows Mobile supports Windows Mobile 2002/2003/5.0/6.0 and Windows CE 4.2/5.0/6.0. With Foxit Reader, you can re-flow PDF documents for easy viewing on a handheld screen and search for text within a PDF file. Foxit Reader for Windows Mobile supports multiple languages.

JETCET PDF

JETCET PDF lets you open, view, and print PDF files received via email, downloaded from the Internet, or transferred over a network on your PDA. Key features include a redesigned user interface, the ability to view multiple files using a tabbed interface, Go To functionality for easy navigation, support for 128bit encrypted and password protected files, bookmarks support, and more.

PocketXpdf

PocketXpdf calls itself a “no-frills viewer for native PDF files.” PocketXpdf lets you use manually defined or automatic bookmarks within PDF files. You can open pages by double tapping in the outline view. PocketXpdf also has support for password-protected PDFs. While viewing a PDF file, you can zoom by dragging a rectangle around a particular area. Text search capabilities are also included.
