Since your PDA can play MP3s and other audio files, there’s really no need to carry a separate MP3 player in addition to your PDA. Simply load your favorite tracks onto a memory card that’s compatible with your PDA, add a set of headphones, and you’re all set. While an everyday pair of headphones will certainly do the job, a better quality set of headphones will provide a better listening experience.
V-MODA’s Vibe II with Microphone
V-MODA’s Vibe II with Microphone isn’t like your average set of headphones. For starters, the Vibe II is designed to look more like jewelry than like headphones. With its fabric cables and stainless steel alloy craftsmanship, the Vibe II has a very attractive design. What’s more, the Vibe II not only looks good, but also sounds good.
Design
V-MODA includes four pairs of both black and clear silicone tips with the Vibe II. The tips come in four different sizes (extra small, small, medium, and large) to fit virtually any users’ ear canal. V-MODA also includes Sport Earhooks—detachable rubber stems that improve the stability of the earbuds for over-ear mounting. To use the ear hooks, you run the Vibe II’s cable through three points on the hooks, wrap the hooks around the back of your ears, and insert the earbuds upside-down in your ear canals. The Sport Earhooks are very comfortable and add some extra stability, which is particularly useful for working out.
The Vibe II comes with a leather carrying case that features red-stitched black leather and dual snaps. The inside of the case is divided by a strip of mesh. Although you can cram the earbuds and all of the silicone tips into the case, I wouldn’t recommend it because you’ll likely scatter the silicone tips when you pull out the earbuds.
Another unique feature of the Vibe II is its Kevlar reinforced fabric cable for added durability. I tested the red (ChromeRouge) Vibe II, but a Black (Nero) version is also available.
Sound
Although comfort is definitely a key factor to consider when shopping for a set of earbuds, sound is equally important. The Vibe II headphones provide excellent sound with a good range of tones. The earbuds themselves are designed to slip far into your ear to help block out background noises and enhance the sound of the music. V-MODA claims the Vibe II supports a frequency range of 12 Hz – 22 kHz.
As an added bonus, the Vibe II will serve double-duty as a hands-free headset for your mobile phone. The Vibe II has a built-in microphone that is compatible with many cell phones, provided they support the 24K gold-plated 3.5mm plug. Further down the cord from the microphone, you’ll find an inline control to play/pause/answer a call.
