After months of rumors and speculation, Gateway will officially announce it's new PDA on June 23, 2003. The Gateway announcement coincides with the release of the new Pocket PC 2003 Operating System. We'll still have to wait till the end of July before the PDA is released and Gateway still hasn't released the much information or any pictures yet. At this point the PDA will be called the Gateway 100x. Here are the rest of the details that a Gateway spokesperson has given me so far:
- Runs on Pocket PC 2003
- Intel 400MHz XScale processor
- 3.5-inch screen
- Dual Compact Flash and Secure Digital slots for adding modules for wireless networking or storing extra data
- Price will be between $300 and $350
- It will be offered to both businesses and consumers
This announcement probably won't cause the buzz that the Dell PDA announcement made, but with the low price point, the announcement will continue the price shake-up that dell started. This seems to be another great announcement that will definitely benefit the consumer. We'll keep you informed when more details come in.
