In the PDA Arena, Palm and Pocket PC are the big players, with Linux based PDAs making up ground. Linux based PDAs are extremely popular within the "Alternative PDA Community". The popularity of Open Soure Operating Systems has migrated to the PDA community because of the flexibility and power that Linux can add to the PDA. Here are just a few of the top Linux PDAs.

1) Yopy 3700 PDA

This is a cool, Linux based, multimedia PDA. Its design closely resembles the Sony Clie's clamshell design. Includes a 206 MHz Strong ARM Processor, 3.5 Inch 240x320 True Color (65K) TFT LCD, RAM 128MB with 32MB ROM, and a built-in Keyboard. Also includes both MMC and CF II card slots. 2) Sharp Zaurus SL-5500

This is the Flagship PDA for Sharp. It sports a 206MHz Intel StrongARM Processor,64MB DRAM and 16MB Flash, 3.5-inch 240x320 display,and a front lighted QWERTY keyboard with a slide cover. This is definitely a work of art. Look for the new SL-5600 with a 400 MHz processor in early 2003.

3) CDL Paron "secure PDA'"

This is a truly unique Linux based PDA with security in mind. The Paron is the world's first handheld wireless device with built-in biometric user authentication. 4) VR3 PDA

This is an inexpensive Linux PDA based on the now defunct Agenda Linux PDA. This is a great entry level Linux PDA. Although it's Grayscale, there is a 66 MHz Processor, 16 Megs RAM, and 160x240 display. Not bad for about $135.
