A Peek at HP's Future Plans

By July 15, 2010

Not long ago, HP completed its acquisition of Palm. The buyout has left many wondering what will happen to webOS and other Palm technologies. Although we still don't know for sure, HP's CTO Phil McKinney made some interesting comments at the MobileBeat conference recently while touting a flexible display technology similar to the E Ink displays used in eBook readers and other devices.

At the conference, McKinney specifically mentioned Palm devices when he was talking about the potential for flexible displays. More specifically, he was cited as saying, "These are the kinds of display technologies that will change what we think of in form factors, both in products from Palm with flexible displays, and with HP."

Does this mean HP could be in the process of creating a flexible webOS device that will sip battery power? It's certainly possible. Time will tell.
