New App Lets Your House Contact You When There May Be Trouble

From Jennifer Johnson, About.com GuideNovember 23, 2009

Protection One, a home and business security system provider, recently launched an application for the iPhone and the iPod touch that lets users access security panels and receive real-time updates on their mobile device. The application gives users the ability to make sure their security system is armed while on vacation or to turn off the alarm when cleaning crews or other contractors need to enter.

This new technology certainly offers some convenience and peace of mind. If a similar app were available for your PDA's operating system, would you use it?

This has been around for a long time. Try “Alarm.com” for starters. Protection one is a company that can hardly stay out of bankruptcy court, will sign you to a long-term contract (WHY??), and install sub-standard junk like Honeywell. You can do better with a smaller company….
