At last week's press event, Ed Colligan, Palm president and CEO, introduced Palm’s long-awaited operating system. Called webOS, this new OS was built from the ground up to focus on Web connectivity. This new platform introduces Palm Synergy, which will bring your information from the places it resides into a single view. As a result, you’ll experience linked contacts, layered calendars, combined messaging, and more. The platform also lets you run multiple applications at the same time for true multitasking functionality.
Initially, the new OS will debut on a new Pre smartphone in the first half of this year. We’re hoping it will come to PDAs eventually as well, though we’ve received no official word either way. Stay tuned as we keep you updated on the latest news from Palm.
